His news comes as major US and Chinese trade negotiators are scheduled to meet in Geneva on Saturday. It will be the first direct exchange between the two countries since Trump stepped up his trade dispute with China and imposed a 14 % tariff on it.  ,
Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer have suggested that the management views these preliminary discussions as a means of easing tensions.  ,
Bessent told Fox News on Tuesday,” My feeling is that this will be about de-escalation, not about the big deal deal.”
Supplies from China to U.S. ports have significantly decreased since Trump implemented his higher tariffs. Stores at corporations have been alerted to outages.
