Next March, MSNBC went through a large shake-up, with some guests being reassigned or fired. The system had been bleeding people since the 2024 election, and directors were desperate to stop it.

They begged their top-rated network, Rachel Maddow, to return to a five-night-a-week plan. Maddow had stepped aside from hosting her present to do “other jobs,” and had limited her looks to every Monday.
Maddow agreed to return to hosting five times a year, but only for Trump’s first 100 times. To complete the great hole in the desired 9:00 PM EST period, the system brought in former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.
The democratic foundation that makes up MSNBC’s key crowd was certainly pleased.

Maddow was a bombthrower. Psaki is far more restrained in her lecture. That’s not what the communist tears want to see. They want heart, and Psaki, while a wild political, doesn’t give the hammer blows rather like Maddow.
This was reflected in the first Neilson assessments from Psaki’s present.

However, the ratings from the first two episodes of “The Briefing ” are likely not what executives were hoping for. The first episode, which may have benefited from curiosity from Maddow viewerrs ,drew in roughly 1. 2 million audiences, with 139,000 in the desired 25-54-year-old demonstration, taking the first place for that demonstration during midnight programming on Tuesday. On Monday, Ms. Maddow had 1. 7 million people, of which 155,000 were in the video.
During her last entire week of labor at the end of April, Ms. Maddow saw time where she drew in more than 2 million people.
Ironically, on Wednesday, Ms. Psaki’s leading show saw its viewers stretch to just over 1 million. The market in the 25-54-year-old time variety plummeted 53 percent to only 65,000, just 40 percent of Ms. Maddow’s video level on Monday.
” The Briefing” even lost 67 % of people in the 18-49 demonstration after only one event as the show merely averaged 37,000 people on Wednesday.
It gets worse for Psaki and MSNBC.
Psaki’s Wednesday show was outdrawn by 38 unique cable information offerings among the advertiser-coveted demonstration despite the pleasant newscast. MSNBC’s 9 p. m. ET programme was outdrawn by all Fox News Channel had to offer, along with 13 various CNN displays and seven News programs.

On Wednesday, Psaki’s” The Briefing” also had fewer viewers among adults aged 25-54 than various repeats of” Friends,”” Seinfeld,”” Everybody Loves Raymond,”” Bob’s Burgers,”” The King of Queens” and” That 70s Show,” along with Nickelodeon’s” Paw Patrol,” Hallmark’s” Reba” and TLC ’s” My Strange Addiction,” and many other basic cable offerings.
Generally, if a Television show gets off to this kind of rough start, it’s no longer for the airwaves. But this is MSNBC, and if more than a brake of radical tune in to view, the besieged managers may describe it as a waking success.
