Past San Diego professor who was once hailed as one of the best teachers in the area was sentenced to 30 years to life in jail for sexually abusing two young boys. Following her guilty plea to numerous sexual murder charges, including possessing illegal materials involving juveniles and sexual acts on a baby, Jacqueline Ma, 36, received a sentence on Friday. After an inspection revealed she had groomed two males, Ma, who was San Diego County‘s professor of the year in 2022, was detained in April 2023. According to NBC San Diego, she allegedly groomed another boy decades earlier while likewise beginning a physical connection with one of the survivors when he was only 12 years old. Ma expressed strong regrets during the Chula Vista Superior Court sentencing hearing, saying in grief,” I am greatly afraid of my actions.”

She said,” I ripped away their childhood.” ” I let my ego overrule the boys ‘ best interests,” her defense attorney, Patrick Griffin, claimed Ma accepted the 30-year word to protect the victims the pain of a test. He continued, “does not anticipate compassion” from the sufferers or their families, but that she had been receiving treatment while she was being held in custody. None of the victims were present at the hearing, and their families did not make any remarks in court. One victim’s family, who expressed her astonishment at having trusted Ma, was conveyed by deputy district attorney Drew Hart. According to NBC San Diego, Hart said,” She don’t think she trusted her, and she is often speechless.” When the mother of one of the males discovered disconcerting messages between her brother and Ma, which sparked an investigation, the crimes became public. Eventually, police discovered several obvious texts and images on Ma’s cellphone that detailed her sexual acts and revealed her personal commitment to one of the boys. Police testified at the preliminary hearing that Ma had exchanged explicit messages with one of the victims and instructed him to cancel them in order to avoid being discovered. San Diego Superior Court Judge Enrique Camarena also noted that Ma’s crimes were committed “in simple look” under the pretext of a well-respected tutor, and that she continued to use her steps as a “prolonged style of child sexual abuse.” According to the New York Post, Ma was first only charged with one crime, known as John Doe 1, before after adding a second son, referred to as John Doe 2, to the list. Ma reportedly attempted incorrect physical contact with the second victim by attempting to do so in her classroom with a more direct approach. She also used her grooming method to purchase both guys ‘ gifts, including clothing and entertainment items.
