Lawmakers who protested at Newark detention centre could be charged after 'mob' scene, says DHS
According to DHS, those who staged protests at the Newark detention center could face charges after the “mob” field.

Three Democratic politicians were involved in a fight outside the newly opened Delaney Hall immigration detention center in Newark, New Jersey, according to the department of homeland security ( DHS), and the department has opened an investigation into what it has been calling a violent encounter. Federal officials have said rape charges against members of Congress are “definitely on the table,” according to Tricia McLaughlin, a DHS director, who was cited by CNN as saying that the agency is reviewing bodycam images that depicts “members of Congress assaulting our ICE police officers, including body-slamming a female ICE agent.” The organization claims that the conflict broke out when Baraka refused to follow repeated instructions to leave the premises.

The incident reportedly escalated when a party, including Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman, Rob Menendez, and LaMonica McIver, stormed the facility’s gate without giving any notice or approval, according to DHS. The ministry said in a statement released by news agency AP that” a group of protest, including two people of the US House of Representatives, stormed the wall and broke into the confinement facility.” The politicians assert that they were conducting a legal monitoring visit, which is not required by federal law. Before being detained on intruding charges by Homeland Security Investigations agents, Mayor Baraka was told repeatedly to leave the property, according to the office. Alina Habba, an acting US lawyer, claimed on X that the president” chosen to disregard the law,” ignoring obvious instructions to keep Delaney Hall, a service run by the personal prison operator GEO Group under a 15-year,$ 1 billion contract. As prisoners were being transported into the service, the incident took place Friday evening. According to DHS, the presence of politicians and activists slowed functions and increased security concerns. McLaughlin described the scene as a “mob” that overran law protection. However, the video footage that was made available to Fox News was equivocal, and testimony from activists and politicians disproved the DHS’s account, according to The New York Times. A video captured Baraka on the open side of the gate, according to AP, at the time of his incarceration. I’m hardly on their house, they say. They didn’t come up and assault me,” Baraka is reportedly saying moments before ICE brokers detained him. According to DHS, the president’s entrance was unlawful and politically motivated. She claimed that Baraka and his team ignored the proper rules for requesting service access and that he is “playing social game” when he is running for governor. The office also criticized the legislators ‘ choice to arrive unannounced. DHS responded to ideas that it attempted to block monitoring by saying,” If a parliamentary visit had been requested, it would have been facilitated. Rep. Watson Coleman’s representative, Ned Cooper, claimed that they had the right to conduct an unexpected inspection of the service.
