'Set-jetting' turning fiction into real, and often expensive, vacations
One of the biggest trends in travel has become the phenomenon of travelers choosing vacation locations based on TV shows and movies ( Representative AI image ).

Have you ever thought about visiting White Lotus, a luxury destination known for its unpleasant guests and frequent murders, on your next trip? Welcome to the” set-jetting” phenomenon, where fans make pilgrimages to locations from well-known films and TV shows like” The White Lotus.” Of course, the White Lotus accommodations are imaginary. However, the properties are true for HBO set movies. Travelers to those qualities reported a threefold increase in orders after months 1 and 2, according to Marc Speichert, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Four Months Hotels and Resorts. The resort’s resort in Thailand, which is in the current season, was unable to reveal the company’s booking figures.

    Procedure Sindoor

The phrase” set-jetting,” a play on “jet set,” is mentioned in a 2007 New York Post article about the appeal of trips inspired by movies like” The Queen” ( Brocket Hall, near London ) and” Pan’s Labyrinth” ( the Segovia region of Spain ). According to Daniel L. Spears, an associate professor of hospitality and tourism and who has studied the pattern, the idea dates back at least to the 1960s. Tourism in Austria rose after the 1965 blockbuster” The Sound of Music,” particularly at Salzburg’s Mirabell Garden, which served as the setting for the song” Do-Re-Mi.” Set-jetting grew more popular in the early 2000s when the” Lord of the Rings” franchise began to draw large numbers of Shire- and Rivendell-obsessed tourists to New Zealand, and” Game of Thrones” did the same for Iceland and Croatia. The choices have since grown exponential. Luxury travel business Black Tomato, one of the biggest players in the field, offers a variety of set-jetting vacations, including horseback rides and a meal with horses that will make you feel like you’re in a” Yellowstone” show. Its menu of James Bond-themed trips, including a training session with a stunt coordinator from the latest 007 movies, is extensive. If you fancy a tuxedo and a stiff ( and shaken ) martini, includes a training session with a stunt coordinator from the five latest 007 films. According to a company official, Black Tomato’s clients typically pay$ 10, 000 to$ 20, 000 per person for a 10-day trip. From the once-idyllic Coco Palms Resort in” Blue Hawaii” to the unsettling plot lines of” The White Lotus,” it’s a long way in the mind. Why do so many people travel to places where music solos and flower leis don’t sound like they do? It might be that the interactive nature of streaming fosters a strong connection with the characters and the setting, creating a sense of nostalgia, Spears said. There is a “dark convert,” but there is also an emotional connection.
