People referred to as “klansmen, crackers” and “pussy-ass bitches” as” those no willing to… escalate actions.”

Swarthmore College pupil activists are frustrated with the management of the school Students for Justice in Palestine after a new pro-Hamas camp that saw a sharp decline in attendance.

More than 100 people showed up at the Swarthmore camp in 2024, and only two hundred at the most recent one in late April/early May, according to the scholar paper The Phoenix.

Despite SJP’s claim that the school has “increased administrative action,” some activists blamed an “increasingly isolated, harmful, and ineffective” SJP leadership.

Pro-Palestinian protesters who spoke with The Phoenix stated that they still support the “genocide” taking place in Gaza and want Israel to be divested. But, they claim that SJP leaders have little interest in persuading or even talking to those who are opposed to their objectives.

SJP “ridiculed or ignored ] [otherwise sympathetic students with genuine questions,” according to one activist named” Adam.”

Everyone who does not take part in SJP behavior is called a fool or a Zionist in class messages, conversations, and social media posts, Adam said. SJP purity testing and raises the bar for relationship, according to the statement,” I] nstead of harnessing or building on this assistance.

” Beth,” a part of Jewish Voice for Peace and Swarthmore SJP, said she believes SJP doesn’t “have sufficient respect for the means Zionism is a social rule,” because if you understand that, you should be more eager to try to reach out to people.

Further: Protesters at Swarthmore College against “bullhorn” assaults complain.

According to” Charles,” who participated in Swarthmore anti-Israel demonstrations in 2023 and 2024, SJP strives to “make the proximity of their own experiences and those of Palestinians in Gaza as close as possible to defend aggressive, militant action.”

He added that” those not willing to take part in these expanded steps” are referred to as “pussy-ass bitches” or “pigs, pups, klansmen, chips, Zionists” or” those who are not willing to participate in these expanded actions.”

    From the narrative:

SJP responded to a query about its commitment to social learning by stating that it was open to engaging with students with mingled feelings. Additionally, according to SJP,” Zionism, the largest social crisis of our life-time, is not the issues being addressed by this nationwide movement, but rather’palestinian issues.” …

When SJP was asked about claims that the organization’s tactics were tactically ineffective, SJP responded that” The historical analysis of the anti-apartheid movements that Swarthmore when criminalized and today celebrates” and that “our camp may be placed within a broader nationwide context.”

SJP added that the company’s purpose was to leverage and apply pressure, not necessarily to win all of its supporters. Moreover, the organization claimed that danger was necessary for effective action.

” We have observed that widespread support does not imply power or utilize. Therefore, our purpose is to not only raise awareness of the political situation in Palestine on campus, but also to increase our leverage and influence to persuade Swarthmore College to end its murder.

Nine people were detained and charged with trespassing at the most current pro-Hamas presentation at Swarthmore. Authorities on the field of “brutalizing” camp visitors, according to the SJP.
