Priya Saxen, a 28-year-old graduate student from India, received two degrees from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, including a master’s degree in chemical engineering. Saxena has been on the country surveillance department’s imprisonment list since last month, despite not participating in any campus protests. Saxena made the news by filing a lawsuit against the department’s founder, Kristi Noem. Sazena was found guilty in 2021 of failing to leave after flashing bright signals. Although her student immigration is not scheduled to expire until 2027, the DHS stated prior to this incident that her student visa may become suspended. The graduation ceremony for Saxena, where she received the title” Dr,” was called the best revenge because Kristo Noem, also, received an honorary diploma from Dakota itself, but there were no applause for her, unlike Dr. Saxena. Otherwise, she faced protests in South Dakota when she accepted the amount on stage.

Kristi Noem and her attorney Jim Leach filed a temporary restraining order against Saxena and won a judgment in her favor prior to her completion. Her lawyer argued in court that she did certainly retaliate for a deportation. Additionally, they claimed Priya filed the criminal cost before applying for her upcoming card. Her second hearing is scheduled for tomorrow. Dakota State University, Noem’s alma mater, gave her an honorary degree in public services. Noem studied social research at this university. Noem may be given an honourable degree, but a vote was held. The student body and the entire faculty opposed it, arguing that it would be very political and would enrage foreign students because Noem’s DHS has been repressing international students. However, the school director claimed that the decision was made because Noem is still the government of South Dakota and has always supported the school.
