The brother of newly elected Pope Leo XIV is facing criticism for a number of unpleasant Twitter posts, which have drawn attention to the family ties of the Roman Catholic Church‘s second US-born bishop, according to the Guardian. The three Prevost sons, Louis Martin” Lou” Prevost, the oldest of the three, have sparked controversy after some offensive comments were made under his name on social media. While his brother Pope Leo XIV ( born Robert Prevost ) is viewed as sassy and open-minded, Lou’s Facebook posts demonstrate strong support for far-right politics. One of Lou’s most popular content, according to the Guardian, featured a picture that decried Democratic congresswoman Nancy Pelosi as a “drunk c**t.” In a separate article, he wrote that,” Barack Obama and the Democrat party much for the entire destruction of our way of life and turning this country into a dictatorship, and one that is prejudiced on top of it.” He also demanded the arrest of Democrat politicians who met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following Zelenskyy’s Oval Office exchange with Donald Trump. They should be charged with” treason,” according to Lou. Another post made a joke that said,” Your child isn’t trans; you’re just a horrible family.” Lou referred to previous Pope Francis’s inclusive approach toward LGBTQ+ Catholics in an interview with ABC News, saying he was” a little more liberal with the transsexuals, the homosexuals, and whatnot.” ” Been very quiet, biting my tongue,” Lou Lou said of his Pelosi post,” I wouldn’t have posted it if I didn’t kind of believe it,” he said when he appeared on the Piers Morgan Show after the scandal broke. He continued,” I had no idea what was coming this soon,” referring to his brother’s election as pope. And I can tell you that I’ve been very quiet since then when it comes to some of the content on social media.” Your brother must be embarrassed, one comment read. Another once said,” Any comments and language you make are offensive to anyone.” Shame on you. It’s also factually incorrect, aside from being nasty. The Prevost brothers, Lou, John, and Robert ( now Pope Leo XIV ), were raised in a Catholic home in Chicago and educated in Catholic institutions. Before ascending through the ranks to become Pope Francis and pope on May 8, John became a Catholic school principal, Lou served in the US Navy, and Robert was ordained in 1982.
