According to White House officials, US President Donald Trump will meet with Ahmedal-Sharaa, the newly appointed president of Syria, on Wednesday during his trip to Saudi Arabia. According to Bloomberg, the conference is significant because Bashar al-Assad’s government was overthrown in December by Sharaa’s rebel group. Sharaa, who is attempting to persuade the US to raise restrictions on Syria, considers the meeting with Trump to be important. Sharaa hopes that this meeting may give her the utilize she needs to secure US help because the sanctions have had a significant impact on the country’s economy since the war. Trump will travel to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates this year as part of his journey. He wants to secure billions of dollars in expenditures from these nations while also promoting his contribution to stabilizing the area and bringing about peace. Saudi Arabia has much urged the US to slap sanctions on Syria to aid in its reconstruction and keep it within the Egyptian sphere of influence.
