As the country navigates a number of difficulties in international affairs, Indian-born Canadian politician Anita Anand took the oath of office as the fresh foreign secretary of the Mark Carney government in Canada. Anita Anand, who likewise becomes the first Hindu woman to hold the office of Canada’s foreign secretary, took her oath with her hands on the Bhagavad Gita, the Hindu gospel. Anita Anand, known as Indira, is the recipient of four degrees: a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University, a Master of Laws from the University of Toronto, and a BA in Political Studies from Queen’s University ( gold medalist, 1989 ). The 58-year-old has four children with her husband, American lawyer and business executive John Knowlton, and they are married to them both. Anita Anand made a recent announcement about her plans to leave politics, but the Justin Trudeau government’s overthrow altered her career.
