The Kremlin rejected on Tuesday the “biased opinions” of a report from the United Nations aerospace firm that found Russia to be to blame for the 2014 crash of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 over Ukraine. A Russian-made surface-to-air weapon over Ukraine’s eastern area of Donetsk, where pro-Russian separatist rebels were battling Russian troops, struck the aircraft as it was traveling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. Moscow “failed to uphold its obligations under international air law,” according to the International Civil Aviation Organization ( ICAO ) with headquarters in Montreal on Monday. Russia did not take part in the research into this affair. Thus, we do not agree with all these skewed conclusions, according to Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s official, who spoke to reporters on Tuesday. Russia has never claimed responsibility for the 298 people killed in flight MH17’s midair damage. Two-thirds of the deceased are French citizens. Additionally, there were 30 Malaysians and 30 Australians. Some victims had two nationalities.
