Rubio Comes Down on ‘Enemy of Humanity’ Cuba for Harboring Terrorists

Cuban captives are not a new phenomenon in the United States. Although the two nations have a long history of having an abduction agreement, Cuba doesn’t always follow through on it. That is something Donald Trump and his team are trying to prevent. The Trump administration has been anything but soft on Cuba, as noted by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who declared Cuba a” not fully cooperating country” ( NFCC). &nbsp,

A state being certified as an NFCC “results in a ban on the price or permit for export of defence articles and services,” according to section 40A of the Arms Export Control Act. The secretary of state renews the record annually, adding just Venezuela, Iran, Syria, and North Korea. In May, the Biden presidency removed Cuba from the NFCCs. &nbsp,

Rubio’s decision to add Cuba up is based on a fairly straightforward reason. The nation is home to criminals and terrorists who are wanted in the United States. &nbsp,

The Cuban government and the United States did not fully engage in the fight against terrorism in 2024. The Cuban government made it clear it was not interested in discussing their returning to face justice in our country after at least 11 U.S. captives were detained from Cuba, some of whom were facing terrorism-related fees. In 2024, efforts to collaborate on counterterrorism issues were futile because the Caribbean government’s refusal to take up this crucial problem, as well as other recent instances of non-cooperation in terrorism-related law enforcement matters.

” The United States will continue to support global cooperation on cybersecurity problems. State Department director Tammy Bruce, a spokesperson for the United States, said in a statement that” we continue to promote transparency for nations that do not stand against terrorism.” &nbsp,

The Miami Herald reports that Joanne Chesimard, who is 77 years old and currently goes by the name Assata Shakur, is one of those defendants, even though Bruce didn’t specifically name who is hiding out in Cuba. &nbsp,

Chesimard was a part of the Black Liberation Army and was wanted in New Jersey for a number of crimes, including bank robbery, in the 1970s. In 1973, two warriors with the New Jersey State Police pulled over her and two other people on the New Jersey Turnpike. The three shot the law enforcement officers, inflicting one fatally and one serious wound to the other. &nbsp,

The FBI charges Chesimard with” first degree death,” “assault and battery on a police officer, abuse with a dangerous tool, assault with intent to kill, unlawful possession of a weapon, and military assault” before being apprehended and charged with a” second degree felony robbery.” She was given a living sentence, but she escaped in 1979. She arrived in Cuba in 1984, and she has most likely been there ever since. Her data that may lead to her imprisonment is worth$ 1 million. &nbsp,

Additionally, the Herald speculates that Guillermo Morales, 75, is a Cuban. According to reports, he was the group’s principal bombmaker in Puerto Rico, Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional Puertorriquea. In the 1970s, the party was responsible for at least 50 attacks, including one at the famed Fraunces Tavern in New York, which left four people dead and several hundred others injured. &nbsp,

Rubio has been thinking about this for a while. The then-Florida senator, along with Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N. ), were in 2022. J. The&nbsp, Trooper Werner Foerster, and Frank Connor Justice Act were basically introduced by them. &nbsp, &nbsp,

To avoid being charged or put in jail for a crime committed in the United States, the bipartisan legislation calls for the immediate repatriation or gain of all fugitives from fairness already receiving safe haven in Cuba. Joanne Chesimard and William Morales, who were convicted criminals, are among the more than 70 defendants who are thought to be receiving safe haven in Cuba. They were the victims of the murder of two New Jersey occupants. The Cuban government also holds fugitives on charges of murder and other crimes ranging from kidnapping to abduction.

Rubio, who is the brother of Caribbean refugees, has previously referred to Cuba as an “enemy of mankind.” He placed immigration limits on those working in the government’s gruesome forced labour system in February, which has been compared to modern slavery. Cuba then alleged the secretary of state to “go after the nation” as part of his “personal agenda” and called it the Trump administration’s” sixth unfair aggressive measure against our community within a month.”

As part of a package with the Vatican, Biden immediately removed Cuba from the State Department’s list of nations that sponsor violence. On the first day of his subsequent word, Trump brought the nation back to the top. &nbsp,
