On Tuesday, both Amazon and Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD) announced partnerships with HUMAIN, a newly established business tasked with promoting the use of artificial intelligence in Saudi Arabia. These announcements come in response to rumors that the US government will help talks involving American companies and Gulf countries.

In order to build machines and another AI system, Amazon Web Services did spend$ 5.3 billion in HUMAIN to help it establish a so-called” Artificial Zone” in Saudi Arabia. This is in addition to the Kingdom’s planned 2026 release of the AWS system area, which is currently being built.

To accede to deployment, the two companies will work together to create AI solutions and Hebrew Big Language Models for the government, power, care, and training sectors. AWS and HUMAIN also have plans to expand their AI and cloud training offerings in Saudi Arabia, in addition to AWS and HUMAIN’s business sector’s expansion. AWS may also increase its training offerings through Amazon Academy, committing to upskilling 100, 000 people.

AMD, a chip manufacturer, and HUMAIN also announced a$ 10 billion cooperation on the same day to create AI system and data centers in both Saudi Arabia and the US. ADM, which opened its fresh Riyadh company in February, has plans to use 500 MW of determine power over the next five years and aims to have multi-exaflop potential ready by the start of the year.

This partnership aims to expand AI access across the business, startup, and royal sectors, just like AWS’s deal. HUMAIN will maintain end-to-end system implementation, including data centers, power systems, and fiber connectivity, while AMD does offer GPUs, CPUs, DPUs, and its available software platform.

In a press release, Tareq Amin, chief executive officer of HUMAIN, stated that” this is not just another infrastructure play… it’s an open invitation to the world’s innovators.” We are “democratizing AI at the compute level,” making sure that imagination and not infrastructure are necessary to gain access to advanced AI.

Following the announcement that American chip manufacturer NVIDIA will sell 18, 000 of its most advanced AI chips to HUMAIN for a 500 megawatt data center in the United Kingdom, the AWS and AMD partnerships come as a result of the announcement.

Trump’s tour of the Gulf States aims to boost US-Saudi Arabia’s ability to strike up more lucrative chip deals.

One of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund ( PIF), has created HUMAIN. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who made the announcement to launch HUMAIN on May 13 during the Saudi-US Investment Forum, is in charge of PIF.

The forum was held as part of a tour of the Gulf States that President Donald Trump and several US tech CEOs are currently undertaking. Trump has so far announced that Saudi Arabian businesses will invest$ 600 billion in American businesses, many of which are AI initiatives and businesses.

One of the tour’s main objectives appears to be forging a chip-focused alliance between the US and Saudi Arabia. The former dominates the market for AI chips, while the latter has the capital to support American tech companies thanks to the likes of Google and Salesforce already tapping it thanks to its expansive PIF. Additionally, Saudi Arabia mandates that all AI businesses operating in the country store data locally as of September, which makes the infrastructure needed for US companies to provide.

Trump’s removal of a cap on how many AI chips could be purchased by nations like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, allowing the AWS, AMD, and NVIDIA deals to occur. The Biden administration passed the so-called” AI diffusion rule” in order to prevent the development of advanced chips from entering China. It was unpopular with NVIDIA and AMD. Concerns about China persist, and US officials are weighing whether to keep control over who can access data centers powered by American-made AI chips.
