President Donald Trump touted another aviation deal with the Middle Eastern nation on Wednesday as controversy rages over his acceptance of a$ 400 million plane from Qatar.
Trump announced at a signing service that Qatar Airways would purchase 160 aircraft from American company Boeing. The contract is valued at$ 200 billion, according to the president, though details were not immediately made public.
Kuwait HAS A STORY OF US BUYING Effect
According to Trump,” [Boeing CEO] Kelly]Ortberg is telling me that this is the largest purchase of planes in the background of Boeing.” ” That’s very great,”

Trump reportedly confirmed the latter number when he asked an assistant if the purchase was for 140 or 160 flights.
” That’s amazing. That’s a history, Kelly, he said. ” Boeing, getting those helicopters out there,” he said.
Ortberg even ratified the papers while seated to the president’s straight.
The plane offer, according to a fact sheet from the White House, includes the purchase of up to 210 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 777X airplane. It is worth$ 96 billion. It will be Boeing’s largest attempt for a 787.
The White House stated that the agreement will support 154, 000 U.S. jobs yearly, or more than a million, over the production and delivery timetable. Although the$ 96 billion figure is lower than the one Trump cited, the same fact sheet indicates that the total value of all agreements signed between the United States and Qatar is more than$ 243.5 billion.
The agreement was benefit Boeing, which has experienced layoffs and declining trust in its aviation as a result of a number of incidents. But, it is unlikely to settle Trump’s hostility over accepting a Qatari aircraft.
Trump has been anticipating a new Boeing Air Force One, but it is considerably behind plan and may not be available until after he leaves workplace. Trump made the announcement that the$ 400 million Qatari-made aircraft, which is worth a lot, will replace Air Force One in the interim.
Liberals and some Democrats have voiced strong opposition, even though Trump has insisted the aircraft is “FREE” and that it is essentially being donated to the Department of Defense rather than him.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY ) stated that he will hold off on Trump’s remaining Justice Department nominees “until the American people learn the truth about this deal.”
Nikki Haley, Trump’s former U.N. adviser and main enemy of the GOP in 2024, also made an outburst on X.
” Accepting donations from foreign countries is not a good idea,” she said. Its use of intelligence and national safety is a threat. especially when that country allows criminal regimes that support them to sit on its soil.
Trump did say that the Boeing offer fits into his wider plan to boost U.S. manufacturing and exports.
Trump addressed Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,” I just want to thank you for the connection, for the long-term connection.” We really liked each other again, long before any of this happened. That’s never a bad point; rather, that’s a good thing.
During the signing ceremony, which included a security agreement and a combined declaration, the emir echoed Trump’s compliment.
