The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced on Thursday that it has launched a fugitive investigation into allegations of rape and sexual abuse against Motown songs legend Smokey Robinson. The Special Victims Bureau is “actively investigating criminal claims” against Robinson, according to a declaration from the office. Four of Robinson’s former housekeepers filed a lawsuit last week, alleging that he had sexually assaulted them regularly and sexually assaulted them while they were employed by him. The women’s lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court seeks at least$ 50 million in damages for the alleged assaults, which the women claim occurred between 2007 and 2024. The accusations against the 85-year-old artistic legend, who was one of the biggest hitmakers of the 1960s, were unsupported, according to Robinson’s attorney. The suit’s lawyer, Christopher Frost, claimed on Tuesday that the only defense is “unadulterated avarice.” We can confidently say that Mr. Robinson made no mistaken impression and that this is a desperate attempt to deceive the people and create even more of a media carnival than the Plaintiffs were able to do, according to Frost. The women’s attorneys, John Harris and Herbert Hayden, are pleased to learn that law enforcement is looking into the claims. Our clients “invoke full cooperation with LASD’s continuing investigation in the pursuit of justice for themselves and others who may have been equally assaulted by him,” the attorneys said. No further information may be provided in the coroner’s declaration, which stated that the investigation is still in its early stages. The claims “defy faith” and are full of contradictions, according to Robertson’s counsel next week. The four girls, whose titles have not been disclosed, allege Smokey Robinson had sexually rape and assault them after he was sat by himself in his Los Angeles home. One woman claimed she was assaulted at least 20 days while working for Robinson from 2012 until 2024. Another claimed she was assaulted at least 23 days while working for him from 2014 to 2020. Robinson was referred to as a” sequential and ill rapist” who needed to be stopped, according to Harris. When asked at a May 6 media conference whether the people had spoken to police, Hayden replied that he had not, but that he thought the claims warranted law enforcement’s involvement. The defendants ‘ all stated that the attack eventually caused them to resign. All of the respondents expressed concern about coming forward because they were concerned about retribution, people humiliation, and potential consequences for their immigration status. With music like” Grief of a Villain” and” The Tracks of My Tears,” Robinson produced a number of strikes as a key component of the Motown Records system, both with his party the Miracles and as a solo artist. Additionally, he co-wrote and wrote music for different Motown artists, including” My Girl” by the Temptations. He is a member of both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock &Roll Hall of Fame.
