Because the regulator is a part of the legislative branch and never subject to the professional get DOGE cited in its attempt to access it, the GAO informed the Washington Examiner that it turned down DOGE’s calls to attribute a team to work there.

According to the President’s January 20, 2025, Executive Order titled” Establishing and Implementing the President’s Department of Government Effectiveness,” I may affirm that GAO has been contacted by DOGE staff seeking to attribute a team to it. GAO is not subject to administrative orders because it is a legislative branch company, so a GAO director told the Washington Examiner.

According to NOTUS, GAO sent the same information to employees shortly after noon on Friday, stating that” We are not subject to Expand or professional orders.” GAO “has informed important legislative committees and will keep them informed of any further developments,” according to the email.

According to their website, the GAO “examines how tax dollars are spent and provides Congress and federal authorities with goal, non-partisan, and fact-based information to help the authorities save money and operate more effectively.”

The GAO was conducting an audit of DOGE, according to The Washington Examiner in April. According to Wired; the agency’s inspection had been taking position since March. It was announced after several Democratic lawmakers, including Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA ), &nbsp, called on GAO to review DOGE.

Elon Musk and DOGE should “get lost,” according to Vice Chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Patty Murray (D-WA ).

The statutes are unmistakably obvious: GAO is a legislative branch firm that is not subject to the wills of the president. It must continue to be a necessary, objective state watchdog. She said to Elon and Expand,” Get lost.”

IFPTE Regional 1921, the company’s union, claimed it has “full self-confidence” that the GAO management will defend its employees.

According to an email obtained by the store,” We have complete confidence that GAO leadership may protect and defend GAO’s independence, as the treasurer public and executive council have stated clearly at previous city rooms.”

    Monitoring THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S PERFORMANCE

Given that the cost-cutting company, led by Musk, is doing much of the same job on a large scale, DOGE does see GAO as incomplete.

That may indicate that there will be breaks at the GAO.
