Harvard Checked Between the Couch Cushions and Found $250 Million for Research

A$ 20 bill was once spotted between my living room couch’s cushions. That$ 20 was a &nbsp, real “eureka” when I was a student then! time.

I’m assuming Harvard experienced a similar rush of excitement when it “found”$ 250 million to fund research initiatives that the federal government had cut as a result of the school’s inability to adhere to Title IX fairness laws.

We may mobilize financial resources to support important research activities for a transitional time while working with our researchers to find other funding sources, the announcement stated.” We does mobilize financial resources to support important research activity for a transitory period.”

No information on the funding sources or the types of analysis tasks it will support. It might have been buried in Harvard Yard. The dance is off wherever they found it: Harvard doesn’t require billions in tax dollars to conduct its research.

With a$ 53 billion endowment, Harvard could fund every project that had its funding cut off by simply using the interest earned on the money to fund research. They wouldn’t ever have to deal with the superintendent.

Other significant universities use their administrative reserves to finance studies, including Harvard. A program at Johns Hopkins was announced to grant grants worth up to$ 150, 000 to faculty members who are experiencing “unexpected federal research funding disruptions.” The federal government has stopped funding initiatives, according to Northwestern University, and it is able to cover the costs of those jobs.

    MSN:

Harvard has a$ 53 billion investment, which helps pay for college activities. About 5 % of its investment income is used annually. The school may reduce that amount, but the majority of the endowment is made up of limited funding that can only be used for reasons set forth by donors. The college made plans to use$ 750 million from the school last month.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon this quarter suggested Harvard depended on “its massive fund” and raise money from rich alumni to make up for the loss in national funding.

Garber claimed in his message that the sanctions have stopped lifesaving study and in some cases resulted in years of lost employment. He stated that the school is determined to assist its experts.

While there will undoubtedly be tough choices and concessions to come, Garber wrote in his message that” we know that, collectively, we will chart a way forward to support and enhance Harvard’s critical research goal.”

The funding cuts will have no impact on actual study, according to Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey, because even if Harvard doesn’t receive a analysis grant for a particular project, there are still good chances that another school that adheres to Title IX rules will receive it.

And that brings us to the irony of Harvard’s petition and social claim that they are entitled to national funding as a matter of “independence.” Just Ivy League administrators may define independence as dependent on government subsidies. Harvard can now be found to be able to finance its own businesses without the assistance of the federal government, in part by changing the president’s and faculty’s million-dollar salaries. That is how independent institutions actually function. They adjust either their passions or their additional operating commitments using their own money to set their functional priorities and adjust them.

Harvard does not desire freedom; they do desire discrimination. &nbsp,

The world has been impacted by Harvard’s studies. The issue is not whether Harvard’s research projects have altered the earth, but whether they have because of it. Basic research often, often, succeeds. The number of inventions, novel medicines, and other achievements of Harvard’s studies over the years is impossible to quantify.

However, they didn’t require billions of dollars from the taxpayer. That’s the most important component of this formula. According to Morrissey, Harvard’s issue is that they have a spiritual opinion in their own indispensibility. &nbsp,
