As the Trump administration moves to destroy the US government-backed media company’s parent company, lots of Voice of America companies are expected to lose their jobs over the upcoming days, according to campaigners. The US Agency for Global Media ( USAGM ), which regulates US-funded international media, has been gutted by an executive order that has placed roughly 1,300 VOA employees on administrative leave and suspended their broadcasts. Save VOA, a group of advocates, posted a statement on Thursday evening on social media that the Trump administration decided to “hundreds of companies over the subsequent days.” J-1 card holders who are terminated may be subject to a few terminations, according to a speech. According to Save VOA, “many of these journalists are from nations where their monitoring for VOA could lead to arrests or worse,” adding that it was working with attorneys to try to get the companies back. Kari Lake, the appointment to US President Donald Trump’s USAGM, reported to the Washington Post that 584 governmental agency workers had been fired, the preponderance from VOA. According to Lake,” We are in the process of reducing the federal government and restoring the organization in accordance with President Trump’s executive buy from March 14″ to meet administration priorities. Michael Abramowitz, a director for VA, wrote in a Twitter post that he was “heartbroken to understand about today’s widespread specific service contractor terminations.” Some of VOA’s most accomplished journalists have been [personal company contractors], many of whom have escaped oppression in their home states to tell the story of America’s freedom and democracy, he wrote. On Thursday, FOA regulatory editor Fatima Tlis announced on social media that her “entire group got terminated today, and US administrations have all granted social asylum.” How does putting reporters you hired on a guarantee of liberty and security on the streets help the American people? she wrote. Nearly all of the sites that are the subject of the March administrative order, including VOA, have filed lawsuits against Trump, alleging that he overreached. USAGM was established during the Second World War as a tool of American gentle authority, and it is an independent organization tasked with promoting democracy and halting advertising abroad through organizations like VOA, Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia, and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting. Washington-based VOA aired in 49 dialects to a regular audience of reportedly 354 million people before the service was suspended. The news outlet has been criticized by the White House for its alleged leftist bias, and official documents refer to it as” Voice of Radical America.”
