Sayee Chaitanya Reddy Devagiri, a 30-year-old Indian-American man, has admitted to conspiring to take about$ 2.5 million from DoorDash, a food delivery company. According to federal prosecution, Devagiri and three people were detained in October after being indicted by a federal judge in August. Vedevigiri is subject to a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a$ 250,000 fine. On September 16, he is scheduled to make an appearance for a position hearing in the case.
How did DoorDash be defrauded by Devagiri?
Devagiri and three another defrauded the shipping company between 2020 and 2021. Devvi is a former DoorDash supply vehicle. He developed this strategy by using customer accounts to place premium purchases on the game. Then he personally rescinded the orders to vehicle accounts that he and his co-conspirators controlled using an owner’s credentials to obtain DoorDash program. Finally, the records that controlled the fictitious drivers reported that the directions were received. Because those commands were not even true, they were not actually delivered. Then Devagiri then used the software to give the phony vehicles for those unresponsive deliveries. Next Devagiri used the software to convert the rank of the orders from “delivered” to “in method.” The US Attorney’s Office stated in a statement that” this process typically took less than five minutes, and it was repeated hundreds of times for many of the purchases.” On May 6, co-defendant Manaswi Mandadapu admitted guilt to the same offense. Tyler Thomas Bottenhorn of Solano County, a third accused, pleaded guilty in 2023 after being charged differently in the case.
