Obama's daughter accused of copying indie creator's short film: 'I was disappointed and hurt'
Malia Obama was accused of stealing her job for a recent big-brand business by an independent inventor.

Natalie Jasmine Harris, an independent director, accused Malia, the daughter of former president Barack Obama, of stealing Grace from her Nike ad. When her and Malia Obama’s” The Spirit” were competing, Harris claimed she first met Malia at Sundance in 2024. Harris earlier this month posted on X about the startling parallels and the specific landscape she thought was a copy of her movie. Some people accused her of not inventing pat-a-cake, and Harris claimed that two people playing the landscape was the scene that was related. ” And that’s pretty accurate. However, the sport is not the focus. It’s about the visual equipment used to make it look,” Harris said. ” First, I was disappointed and hurt, not just for myself but for my whole crew. I sent the advertisement to companions who shared my opinion. One put up a contrast of the shots, she said. ” My photographer, Tehillah De Castro, noticed a lot of resemblance from a technical point of view, from the camera points to the shots to the frame structure and the colour palette,” said De Castro. It raises a more serious problem of brands choosing to support independent artists over choosing to work with people who already have brand recognition, which doesn’t lead to creative movies or original story. Why not get me to lead if they wanted to get these shots that resemble my own? ” I was anxious because it involves the daughter of the former president,” Harris said, adding that she would like some recognition from Nike or Malia Obama. Because it involves the child of a former president and a adored brand like Nike, I was immediately reluctant to speak up. However, I’ve invested too much into my job to sit back and watch,” she said.

    Malia Obama: Who is she?

Malia Obama, the eldest child of Barack and Michelle, is a writer and director. Malia received her Bachelor of Arts in Past from Harvard in 2021. However, she had a strong interest in video and received numerous exclusive jobs. She worked as a production assistant on the set of” Extant” in 2014, and she even interned in the writer’s room for HBO’s” Girls” in 2015. Malia completed a swift stay at The Weinstein Company in 2017 with the same title. She had already left school and was working full-time in the entertainment sector. In 2023, she had questioned her eligibility as a writer for Donald Glover’s popular Amazon Prime Video restricted line” Swarm.” Malia changed her last name to Malia Ann in 2024 after deciding to stop using her last name and leave her parents ‘ shadow.
