According to the Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ), another air traffic control outage hit the Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday morning. The Philadelphia air traffic control center, which controls planes at Newark Liberty International Airport, briefly experienced a two-second television program loss, according to the FAA. This is the third time Newark Airport has experienced this disruption since April 28, causing the airport to continue to have professional and personnel issues. A 90-second contact delay occurred on May 9 after the April event, resulting in flight disruptions. Flights were temporarily halted by another interruption on May 11 while staff shortages brought on by the tragedy in April, according to CBS News. The Newark flights are now being controlled by the Philadelphia ability due to understaffing issues. These problems show the serious lack of air traffic controllers in every country in the United States. The regional air traffic control system’s modernization is being worked on, according to US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy this month. The update includes new hardware and software installations, with expenses expected to “tens of billions of dollars” in the future, according to Duffy. Due to the indisputable nature of new parts, Hardy informed a Senate Appropriations committee in April. The current system relies on antiquated technology, forcing the FAA to purchase replacement parts from eBay or print them using 3D printing. The FAA suggests implementing important journey restrictions, which would limit arrivals to 28 per minute, due to ongoing problems at ERW. The aircraft could construct and improve runways thanks to the proposed reduction in air transportation. The regular maintenance tasks are scheduled to continue through June 15 with regular Saturday operations through the end of the year.
