According to a new report, President Donald Trump’s administration has agreed to pay almost$ 5 million to Ashli Babbitt’s home after she was shot by a Capitol police officer on January 6, 2021.
Following a$ 30 million wrongful-death lawsuit the Babbitt family brought against the federal government last year under former President Joe Biden’s administration, two people with knowledge of the settlement told The Washington Post that the Trump administration is expected to pay nearly$ 5 million to Ashli Babbitt’s estate.
According to The Washington Post, the Babbitt community and the government’s attorneys informed a prosecutor earlier this month that they had agreed to a process arrangement regarding the wrongful death complaint. The Justice Department’s consent to a settlement, according to the store, represented a reverse under the Trump administration, as the Justice Department had recently opposed the situation.
The Washington Post reported that U.S. District Court Judge Ana Reyes ordered the federal government and the Babbitt family to give the judge an update on the settlement agreement on May 22 despite the fact that a package was not made between the two parties at the hearing on May 2.

A U.S. Capitol Police officer tragically shot Babbitt as she attempted to enter the Speaker’s Lobby of the Capitol Building through a barren entrance, according to The Associated Press.
The Capitol Police commander who fatally shot Babbitt was originally found innocent of all charges by both the Senate Police and the District of Columbia, according to The Associated Press. The attorney’s business determined that the commander had acted in self-defense and to defend members of Congress.
