US health authorities are looking into a recent outbreak of salmonella ailments that was caused by a Florida farmer whose contaminated cucumbers were linked to more than 550 illnesses next time. According to a report released late on Monday by the US Food and Drug Administration, vegetables grown by Florida-based Bedner Growers and distributed by New Start Produce Profits have been linked to ailments in at least 26 individuals in 15 states. No fatalities have been reported despite at least nine hospitalizations. Between April 29 and May 19, the vegetables were sold to eateries, shops, and producers of food services, and they may also be available this year. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, symptoms were reported between April 2 and April 28. In a follow-up observation in April to a 2024 pandemic that sickened 551 citizens and hospitalized 155 people in 34 states and Washington, D.C. In that outbreak, investigators discovered salmonella germs that was used in river waters used at farms operated by Bedner Growers and Thomas Produce Company. In the most recent outbreak, authorities discovered salmonella bacteria from farm samples that matched those from sick people. Health authorities are looking into the location of the possibly contaminated cucumber distribution. According to the CDC, several people who fell ill ate cucumbers on cruise ships leaving Florida ports. According to officials, organic cucumbers are unaffected. Retailers should warn customers who might have purchased the contaminated produce. According to officials, consumers should throw away cucumbers if they don’t know where they came from. Diarrhea, fever, severe vomiting, dehydration, and stomach cramps are symptoms of salmonella poisoning. The majority of sick people recover within a week. Young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems can have the most severe infections, which may require hospitalization.
