Trump administration cancels $60 million in Harvard grants over campus antisemitism allegations

According to the Trump administration, Harvard University’s$ 60 million in federal grants were terminated in part because the school had not adequately responded to racist harassment and racial discrimination incidents. On Monday, the health and human services office announced that they would end several multi-year give awards after their entire period. ” HHS is taking crucial steps to defend civil rights in higher learning. HHS is terminating several multi-year grant awards, totaling approximately$ 60 million over their full duration, as a result of Harvard University’s continued failure to address anti-Semitic harassment and race discrimination, according to the health department in a post on X. ” Discrimination will not be tolerated on college in the Trump Administration,” said the statement. Federal funds must be used to help organizations that safeguard all students, it added. According to Reuters, the Trump administration has recently suspended or terminated federal grants and contracts for the university, which total about$ 3 billion. Trump has attempted to reform American universities since taking office in January, claiming that Marxist, serious leftist, and anti-American ideas have influenced these organizations. The administration claims that Harvard continues to take race into account when evaluating student applications and has failed to address prejudice against Jewish individuals during pro-Palestinian demonstrations that took place last month across American universities. In the same way, Columbia University in New York is under investigation for alleged racism. The Cambridge-based school has stated that it cannot function without the frozen offers, and is assisting researchers in obtaining alternate money. The Trump presidency is facing legal action due to the award cuts, according to the organization. An Orthodox Jewish student who claimed the university harmed antisemitism on campus just settled a substantial legal dispute with Harvard. Following Harvard’s pledge to improve safeguards for Israeli students, this arrangement addressed two lawsuits that claimed the school harbored common antisemitism.
