China Accuses US of ‘Typical Acts of Unilateral Bullying’ in Tech Products Bans

According to Bloomberg, representatives from China’s Commerce Ministry announced on Wednesday that the Anti-Foreign Punishment Law may apply to implementing US bans on some software products.

The ministry charged the US with violating export controls and with carrying out “typical acts of punitive bullying and protectionism” to “repress and include China.”

China and the US just held trade deals in Geneva, where they agreed to a 90-day wait on some mutual tariffs. The statement is the most recent in a difficult business environment, where the US forbids the flow of transistors into and out of China.

China does take legal action against businesses that abide by US laws governing Huawei.

According to Bloomberg, the Taiwanese Commerce Ministry did not specify what steps might be taken if it was discovered that an individual or business had aided in US trade settings. However, it is important to point out that China has control over the supply of essential vitamins needed for high-tech goods.

Notice: Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, claimed that the AI diffusion rule would have been inadequate and had negatively impacted his company.

    What’s warm at TechRepublic?

China has been urged by the US to support its efforts to stop the movement of fentanyl into the US by China. Since the Biden leadership, the US has been monitoring the flow of the substance between the US and Mexico.

Tech restrictions have also served as a major financial bargaining chip for the US and China in other conversations.

Trade talks between the US and China strike a balance between assistance and limitations.

In Geneva on May 11, US and Chinese leaders convened for a discussion that partially sluggishly eased the anxious business environment between the two nations. Some mutual taxes had 90-day suspensions.

The AI Diffusion law was set to go into effect on May 15th, but the US Department of Commerce rescinded it on May 13. The office announced on May 19 that it would “issue a replacement rule” and provided guidance stating:”…

    • US businesses and individuals are prohibited from using Huawei Ascend AI cards.
    • Avoid imports, re-exports, or ships that could result in the use of sophisticated American AI chips for” education and assumption of Chinese AI models” for US businesses and individuals.
    • “illegal escape schemes” to way chips to sanctioned nations may be the result of some red flags, including vague or missing information about a data agency’s shipping address.

The two nations came to a consensus in Geneva regarding the establishment of” a system to continue conversations about economic and trade relationships.”
