Christian university finally opens George Floyd scholarship to all races

Ultimate adjustments are made to North Central University’s plan to end racism.

White, Asian, Latino, and Native American students will no longer be able to receive a scholarship from a Christian school in Minnesota.

The College Fix raised the issue next March and the Legal Insurrection Foundation filed a federal issue, so North Central University made the changes to its” George Floyd Memorial Scholarship.”

The award, which was established in 2020, stated explicitly that simply “young Black Americans” should apply because it discriminated against race.

Only applicants who were” Black or African American,” or someone who “had ancestry in any of the black racial groups of Africa” may use.

The George Floyd Memorial Scholarship, according to the university’s website,” we think that North Central University will be able to improve our number of Black students who will have a positive impact on the understanding environment.”

The college made minor edits following the federal civil rights problem and The Fix‘s monitoring. The class removed some of the speech about black students from an introductory article around July 2024.

However, the scholarship application for students was still prompted to identify applicants as being of African descent ( Black, African American, African, or Mixed ). In addition, a section that describes the scholarship fund’s history also contained racist language.

Nevertheless, as of today, that page has been completely gone, and The Fix was unable to find any more explicit mentions of competition in the application materials.

William Jacobson, a legal expert who first filed the complaint through his Legal Insurrection Foundation, expressed careful enthusiasm in a speech to The Fix.

If North Central has entirely removed the cultural eligibility restrictions on the George Floyd Scholarship, Jacobson told The Fix on Tuesday.” That is a win for justice and equal access to education. We would need to know more about what is happening behind closed doors, but the removal of a web site may indicate a change in methods at North Central.

The law professor at Cornell University asked,” Is the award really being administered on a non-discriminatory base, or are the unfair practices continuing out of sight.” ” We request North Central to give clarity and clarity.”

Since President Donald Trump took business, legal privileges have been growing.

Colleges and K-12 colleges have been subject to even greater attention for their prejudice against students, especially white and Asian students, under President Trump’s management.

No person can face discrimination based on race, according to national civil rights law, which includes the Constitution.

However, this nation still experiences racial discrimination. For instance, Mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson just bragged about going above and beyond to help black people. Additionally, he claimed that non-black staff do not care about people and made a racist claim.

” We often look out for everyone else when you hire our folks,” said one employee. Johnson remarked,” We are the most giving people on earth.” Then he continued to record all the dark officers he hired.

The statement is of course a contradiction; if he, a black man, directly hires people based on race, he is certainly looking out” for everyone else.” Instead, he concentrates solely on the welfare of his “people.”

Sadly, President Donald Trump and his Department of Justice immediately launched a federal civil rights investigation into his comments.

It is time for Chicago to do the same after North Central University has abolished its racist plans.
