Pass the SALT (Cap): Red-State Americans Shouldn’t Have to Subsidize Lavish Blue-State Social Programs

Amazing things happen whenever Donald Trump is in office and Republicans control Congress. One of my favorites is how, seemingly out of the blue, they correct cruel practices that weren’t even on my detector. That’s exactly what happened when President Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA ) into law in December 2017.

The TCJA’s first-ever action limited the amount of State and Local Tax ( SALT) taxpayers ‘ federal taxes can deduct at$ 10,000. &nbsp,

Understand what a significant transition this change made in the state of low-taxes toward justice. &nbsp,

Left elites who lived in left, unjust blue states could vote for any lavish, socialist legislation they favored being implemented by their nearby and/or state governments prior to the SALT cap. Obviously, this increased state and local taxes, including income, profits, and property, to outrageous amounts. However, the rich socialists in these areas didn’t have to worry about that because they had proceed and subtract the tax amounts they had already paid from their earnings when they filed their federal taxes.

For instance, if a liberal made$ 200,000 in state and local taxes and paid$ 35,000 of that, she could then adjust her gross income to$ 175, 000 when she calculated her federal tax bill, which would then be based on that sum. Then she could love living in her blue state of fully funded illegal alien people using all the public money they can get, including filth that she needs to haul to the dump for herself, six months of paid maternity/paternity leave, electrical buses, expensive bike lanes, and all the other feel-good liberal public money you can think of.

What if the female hostess in Mississippi and the HVAC specialist in Alabama have to make up the difference when they file their federal income?

Every tax payer’s money, as liberals are known to do, lowers the amount of taxes they pay to the federal government, reducing the amount they spend on their blue states and towns to finance their luxurious social spending. Therefore, those who are intelligent enough to reside in low-tax states precisely because they don’t have to pay beautiful, expensive government programs are instead subject to higher federal tax rates because they are unable to withdraw cheap state and local taxes from their income when Uncle Sam is due.

Why Does the NY Court Take So Long to Decide Trump’s Fraud Appeal Solely for Our Guests?

To be honest, President Trump did not take the lead in enforcing the SALT helmet, but he did have his birth and brew in a violet city and state. He also went so far as to claim that he would support raising the cover or even abolishing it when he was campaigning for re-election in the fall of 2024. Trump is promoting its inclusion in the budget as House Republicans wrangle among themselves to pass his One Big, Beautiful Bill ( OBBB ).

Trump traveled to Washington on Tuesday to pressuring Republicans to end their hostility and move his OBBB. He addressed the so-called SALT Caucus, a group of blue-state Republicans who is clamoring for a sizable boost in SALT&nbsp. They had already ruled out a change to the current cap of$ 10, 000 because it was too low, leading fiscally conservative Republicans from lower-tax says to lose faith in the senator’s development.

Specifically, Trump told the Salt Caucus to” Let it go,” according to sources in the meeting. NBC News & Studies

While Trump targeted modest Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N. Y., who is weighing up a bid for chancellor in his former home state, in his remarks at all the lawmakers negotiating a higher Saline cap.

According to two of the politicians, Trump said,” Stop it, Mike, only stop it.” ( Note: When Trump endorsed Lawler for re-election to his battleground House seat this month, he praised Lawler’s efforts to increase the SALT cap. )

Whatever his innate preconceptions as a native New Yorker are, Trump is now making the right decision. The SALT helmet ought to be in place forever. It’s only reasonable that powerful, well-off people in powerful states should be the ones to foot the bill for them, not the thrifty, practical, and hard-working citizens of slim, small-government states.
