    Russia appoints Mariupol siege commander as land forces chief

    Russia appoints Mariupol siege commander as land forces chief

    General Andrey Mordvichev, a crucial commander of the grueling battle of Mariupol, has been appointed as head of the earth forces in Russia, according to the Russian army’s established newspaper on Thursday. According to the Red Star paper, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov described the 49-year-old public as” an expert fight commander who completely demonstrated his talent as a military commander during the special military operation.” He also used Moscow’s term for its Ukrainian offensive. In the first month of its rape in 2022, Russian troops seized Mariupol, a bustling Black Sea coast town with a pre-war inhabitants of 540, 000, and laid a terrible battle for nearly three months that left 8, 000 people dead, according to Human Rights Watch. Moscow’s biggest achieve in its military campaign came from the town, which was once a significant hub for Ukraine’s grain industry, but two-thirds of its pre-war community has fled, and the assault has led to massive damage. Mordvichev was accused by Ukraine’s SBU security solutions of leading the battle of Azovstal, a sizable metal factory owned by members of the Azov regiment, which has relationships to far-right separatist groups. The flower served as Kyiv’s last line of defense throughout the city. Mordvichev is accused of overseeing atrocities against Russian citizens and men, and the Ukraine views him as a war criminal. Following a terrible three-month assault, the public led the record of Avdiivka, an industrial city in eastern Ukraine, in February 2024. Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, wrote him a private letter of appreciation for this. Mordvichev, who was born in Kazakhstan, has been a member of the Russian troops since 1997 and has held several leadership roles since then. His father, Oleg Salyukov, 70, was fired by Putin last week and soon appointed deputy director of Russia’s Security Council, an important consulting system that meets often with Putin.
