Canada has been attempting to stop the influx of foreign pupils into the nation since 2023. In 2023, Canada issued a full of 681, 155 research permits, with Indians comprising 278, 045 of them. In 2024, the full number dropped to 516, 275 and the number of Indians was reduced to 188, 465.

Why does Canada never want foreign students?

The resources are under great pressure due to an increasing international population, which has caused a housing and transportation crisis. By 2027, temporary people, including foreign students and staff, may only account for 5 % of the population, according to prime minister Mark Carnet. International students have recently voiced concerns about a food shortage because many food businesses have lately restricted their services to only the continuous citizens of Canada.

Why are American students ‘ visa requirements harder to obtain?

In order to restrict the entry of foreign students, IRCC announced in 2024 that the force for 2025 may remain 437, 000 from 485, 000. Applications for new research permits received on or after January 1, 2024 must demonstrate that they have a CA of$ 20, 635, according to IRCC. Previously, this number was CA$ 10, 000. American kids have previously been Canada’s largest population of international students. American students accounted for 41 % of the entire international students in 2022.
