China criticises US ban on Harvard's international students

One college in Hong Kong hoped to capitalize on the confusion by promising to accept international students from Harvard, as the Chinese government claimed on Friday that the Trump administration’s decision to ban them would harm America’s standing abroad. The majority of Harvard University’s foreign students are Foreign students. In 2024, the university’s statistics revealed that there were 6, 703 foreign students attending all of its institutions, with 1, 203 of those students coming from China. The Trump president’s announcement on Thursday was a popular theme on Chinese social media. Harvard was now suing the US government in court, according to state broadcaster Video, who questioned whether the US may continue to be a major destination for foreign students. However, the CCTV criticism warned that” with the lengthy litigation time, thousands of international students may have difficulty waiting.” It continued, saying that when plan uncertainty “turns into the norm,” foreign students are required to take into account other options. teamwork between the US and education at a regular lecture in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning stated that China opposes its politicisation and that it is mutually beneficial. She said that the US side’s behavior will only harm its own reputation and global standing. She continued, saying that China had strongly defend the rights and liberties of Chinese students and scholars traveling, but she wouldn’t provide any specifics about how it would do so in this circumstance. International students currently enrolled at Harvard and those who have been accepted received an empty offer from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The school announced in a news release that it would offer unrestricted offers, simplified admissions procedures, and educational support to help make the transition smooth. Some Chinese people made fun of the college opening a branch in Harbin, which has the same Taiwanese figure as Harvard’s. China’s relationship with the United States has long been at odds with the issue of Chinese students studying abroad. China’s Ministry of Education issued a warning to kids about rising rejection rates and shorter visa application deadlines during Trump’s first name. A number of Chinese individuals were questioning and returned home after being checked into US airports last year, according to the Chinese foreign government. The Chinese state media has long promoted gun violence in the US and depicted America as a hazardous area. Some Foreign students choose to study abroad in the UK or abroad as opposed to the US.
