SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son speaks about the Stargate project at the White House/White House.
Masayoshi Son, CEO of SoftBank, discusses the Stargate job at the White House/ White House.

US President Donald Trump sat in the White House’s Roosevelt Room with Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison, Oracle Chairman Sam Altman, and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son soon after beginning his second term as president.

A$ 500 billion public-private infrastructure project known as Stargate was unveiled by them as a new outlook for America’s role in artificial intelligence. A sprawling new information center under development in Abilene, Texas, the spirit of this program, which aims to support the development of the following AI technology.

Here are ten crucial information about the launch of Stargate.

    1. Texas will be the starting point for the massive$ 500 billion AI project.

Abilene, a calm West Texas city known for its oil rig and cattle estates, is now the site of what might turn out to be the biggest AI system job in the country. On a 900-acre residence west of Dallas, OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank are building the first Stargate AI information center.

    2. Oracle, SoftBank, Crusoe, Oracle, and OpenAI are the people.

Stargate is a partnership between Trump, Oracle, and SoftBank, with aid from OpenAI.

Each spouse contributes unique abilities. The center will be run by OpenAI and have its primary client. Oracle is providing server infrastructure and leasing the page. SoftBank handles money investments.

Crusoe, a Denver-based system business focused on AI determine, is in charge of the actual buildout. In an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, Chase Lochmiller, CEO of Crusoe, said,” I’ve always built anything of this level.”

    3. counting and accumulating 15 billion dollars

Crusoe Energy, which is in charge of the site’s construction, has secured$ 11.6 billion in new funding, bringing the total investment in the Abilene data center to about$ 15 billion, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The school will eventually have eight buildings, each with superior AI chips, over the course of two to eight. Up to 50 000 Nvidia Blackwell computers, which have been designed to teach advanced AI types, may be housed in each building, according to rumors.

    4. Stargate’s individual gas plant was constructed in the middle of it.

Energy is a major issue for a service of this size. The Abilene page is anticipated to demand 1.2 gigawatts, enough strength to strength hundreds of thousands of homes. Crusoe and its companions are building a natural gas power plant on site to guarantee continuous light in response to this demand.

In an exam, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman remarked,” One of the things that really surprised me was how many items pull into the mainline.”

    5. A blessing for Abilene

Altman claimed that the state’s flexibility in terms of energy and system made it a great place to start. The town has committed to supporting the site’s water requirements, which are lower than usual, owing to a heating system that recycles wet, and the local government offered significant tax incentives.

With that many new hires entering and taking these positions, Abilene Mayor Weldon Hurt predicted that the rest of the business, including our restaurants and apartment builders, would be affected.

Big data centers usually result in some permanent positions, but Crusoe has committed to creating 357 full-time positions following their development. The bigger gain could be the impact that local businesses will experience as well as the interest that Abilene is suddenly receiving from technical vendors, developers, and investors.

More of the AI cover that is essential

    6. Microsoft is slowed down but never prevented

Microsoft has been OpenAI’s main fog provider. However, Stargate represents a change. Marc Benioff, the CEO of Salesforce, claimed that Stargate signaled the end of the “honeymoon” between OpenAI and Microsoft.

OpenAI changed its agreement with Microsoft in January, allowing partnerships with other companies as long as Microsoft kept its first-refusal freedom.

Microsoft continues to be listed as a tech partner even though it does not provide financial support for Stargate. Oracle will also maintain the servers and rent the Abilene center.

    7. Critics describe it as” chaotic” and “fake.”

Not everyone thinks Stargate may fulfill its lofty expectations. The work was labelled” chaotic,” according to Elon Musk, while Anthropic’s Dario Amodei, one of the scientists behind the AI scaling concept that served as the inspiration for Stargate, referred to it as “fake.”

Altman is unwavering in his belief that” we need more assess and more capital.” We want to have access to a bit of the tools needed to create and operate AI.

    8. The game’s title is” Rate.”

Building on Crusoe began in June 2024. In the first quarter of 2025, the first two houses are anticipated to be operational. Six more buildings, totaling six, were constructed in the second phase in March 2025, and are anticipated to be operating by the middle of 2026.

According to Lochmiller,” We’re trying to deliver on the quickest plan that a 100 megawatt or greater files facility has ever been constructed.”

    9. Stargate is not just a promotion title.

According to Altman, the brand” Stargate” was derived from a 1994 movie-replicated first OpenAI data center design. He said,” The hardest part was figuring out what the deal’s shape should be,” referring to the structure of the organization.

    10. Following stops: Oregon, Amarillo, and the surrounding area

The Stargate type could be used everywhere in the United States if prosperous in Abilene. Crusoe is considering Amarillo, Texas as the location of the upcoming site. Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin have also been scouted by OpenAI. A distinct AI data centre in Abu Dhabi is under development on a global level, but it won’t be governed by the Stargate LLC name.
