Donald Trump, president, said he would impose a 25 % tariff on Apple if it didn’t relocate its iPhone production to the US.
” I’ve long since informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect the manufacture and construction of iPhones in the United States, no in India or anywhere else, to be done. If that is not the case, Apple must pay a price of at least 25 % to the United States.” Thank you ] for your inquiry,” Trump stated on Truth Social on Friday.
To reduce its reliance on China, Apple has been shifting its output to India. 25 % of its creation is anticipated to be in India by the year 2025. Trump made a public statement about Apple’s decision to increase production in the United States earlier this month, claiming he “had a small issue with Tim Cook.”
Trump told Cook,” I don’t like you building in India.”
Trump’s blog plunged Apple shares in intraday trading to as low as 4 %, tipped stock prospects into the negatives. Trump claimed in a different post that trade negotiations were “going nothing” and that the European Union may be hit with a 50 % blanket tariff minutes later.
Suppliers ARE READY TO Invest BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN US AFTER TRUMP TARIFFS
Trump has been making more direct attacks on American businesses that oppose his tax strategies.  ,
He previously stated earlier this month that Mattel may be subject to” a 100 % price” on its products if it didn’t move production to the United States. He recently told Walmart to “EAT THE TARIFFS” after the company stated that it would probably want to increase rates as a result of the taxes.
