Afghanistan hit by 4.2 magnitude earthquake, fifth in nine days
    Official representation

Afghanistan experienced its second quake to savagely shake the nation in just over a year. An earthquake of scale 4.2 struck the region in the early days of Sunday. The most recent disaster occurred at 6.33 am IST at a detail of 135 km, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). Although investigations are still being conducted, there have not been any confirmed reports of accidents or structural deterioration. Between May 16 and May 20, the area experienced four disasters in the past. A 4.2 % magnitude earthquake was reported on May 19th. A somewhat stronger 4. 5 magnitude quake struck at a level of 150 kilometers the day before, on May 18. On May 17 and 16, between, earthquakes of amplitudes 4. 2 and 4. 0 were reported due to that. The recent rise in tectonic activity has sparked problems among both experts and residents. Due to its location along the incident line between the Indian and Asian geological plates, Afghanistan, especially the Hindu Kush area, is recognized as a seismically active area. The western province of Herat is also home to a significant problem line, which more amplifies the region’s risk. The International Red Cross and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs ( UNOCHA ) have frequently emphasized Afghanistan’s vulnerability to natural disasters, including earthquakes, landslides, and seasonal flooding. As surveillance organizations continue to assess the impact, more data is awaited.
