When it comes to a relatively straightforward question, who is in charge of lowering and raising the British flag outside the Amesbury Public Library appears to be on different frequencies.
The problem was made public late when a local Air Force veteran who served under President Jimmy Carter’s administration noticed that the flag outside the metropolitan building was still in full swing after Carter passed away on December 29.

Another American emblem is being flown by a local lender at half-staff, and the library’s flag is within sight of it. It is also in striking contrast to the Amesbury Fire Department’s equivalent, which is also flying at half-staff.
Joe Biden, the previous president, gave the order to fly the banners at half-staff for 30 days after his 100th birthday. During the same period, Governor, Massachusetts, and Governor. Colors were flown in a similar manner at all state properties, according to Maura Healey.
The town is adhering to Healey’s presidential order to keep key or management building banners at half-staff, according to City Communications  Director  Director William Donohue.

When he noticed the symbol, 68-year-old former Winders, who served from 1977 to 1981, was walking down Main Street.
The symbol in front of the lender is at half-mast, and the public library flag is at full mast, Winders said.
Winders claimed he contacted Amesbury Public Library, Director Aimie Westphal, and asked for an explanation as to why a private institution like a lender may reduce its flag in honor of Carter but not the collection.
According to Winders, referring to libraries staff,” They said we’ll send this to DPW ( Department of Public Works ), they don’t seem to have a key.”
When asked for reply, Westphal directed Donohue to handle any complaints.
He is the authority on this subject, Westphal said.
Unsatisfied, Winders called City Hall on Tuesday and was informed by a part of Kassandra Gove’s department that the only flag the presidency was in charge of was close to the fire place.
They acknowledged my services, but they did inform me that the flag wasn’t falling as far as they were concerned, according to Winders.
Winches said that having the flag at full-staff is” a specially cutting attack” as a senior who served under Carter and lost friends abroad.
This is the valley I’m choosing to fall to sleep on. Not every man has the right to select the hill where they want to kill, according to Winders.
Scott Mandeville, president of the town council, claimed the area may have overlooked a key point when it came to the library’s emblem.
” We do the best we can and strive to keep track of all and do these things, but occasionally, however, we do have events or situations that slip through the cracks and don’t always have the resources to address and correct them,” Mandeville said.
He did agree that the flag should be raised, particularly if a former had come in to specifically ask it.
In honor of and honor of President Carter and all that he has done for this state, we should lower the symbol to half-staff, according to Mandeville.
Director of Veteran’s Services, Kevin Hunt, who was unavailable for reply, claimed an email from Gove’s office on January 2 and that it had mandated that all city flags be lowered to half-staff until January 28.
