My original PR mentor did a mint job of doing this: He figured out that his rolodex had value, so he demanded a “finder’s fee” ( 15 % ) for connecting businesspeople. After in my profession, we split a good commission when a customer he repped spent seven characters on an MMA organization I repped. ( Of course, his “buyer” turned out to be, ahem, not entirely honest, but at least our commission checks were cleared. )
In other words, “relationship facilitating” is facilitating connections between like-minded parties so that they can make money off of options. It serves as the beginning of a legally binding agreement and the identification of shared objectives and interests.
This is important because Kamala Harris and News Corp are currently playing footsie.
The media dynasty run by Rupert Murdoch, News Corp., has problems in print, broadcast, and information. It has a lot of power, particularly in traditional circles.

When a business invests so much in an event, and between funding costs, workers costs, live entertainment costs, etc., it can be VERY expensive, the business typically has an active voice in the planning process. Their speech grows louder the more money they spend.
And it appears as though News Corp was actually trying to make a really huge splash:

Just a guy who sits on the REA Group’s board of directors and owns$ 7 million in stock and makes six figures per year. And in another of those crazy, kooky events, who actually owns 62 % of REA Group?

Perhaps so, it was definitely a wise move for Harris even without the cash. Before making an unlikely return to the social mainstream, either as the second governor of California or as one of the Democratic contenders for president, she had to go off-Broadway and fine tune her chops.
She struggles to connect with people and is not normally pleasant. She ( still needs more practice ), and the more reps she gets in Australia’s remote regions, the more prepared she will be when she launches her upcoming U.S. media blitz. Even without the commission, it’s savvy strategy.

But with the funds? Oh, baby!
Kamala Harris will be releasing a book immediately, according to a report from NBC News. Not just any book sometimes:
Keith Urbahn, the president and co-founder of the literary firm Javelin, stated that Kamala Harris is” set to get the biggest book package of any sin president in history.” The real issue is not the advance, but whether the book is “redesign” her for 2028.

It will work with the former Veep in areas like “focusing on speaking engagements and publishing,” according to CAA.
It was ( presumably ) a lucrative speaking engagement at the event in Australia. And who, exactly, owns and runs one of the biggest publishing companies on the planet?
HarperCollins Publishers is controlled by NewsCorp.
The Penguins Book family, which is not affiliated with NewsCorp, published the final two books Kamala Harris wrote ( or was given the writing credit for ). Barack Obama, among others, received a mind-blowing$ 65 million advance, while Penguin Books has a long history of paying well to big-name Democrats.  ,

Kamala Harris hasn’t yet disclosed the details of her new book deal.  ,
Given that everything else is equal, you’d anticipate Penguin Books to receive the nod. Regardless of the actual ROI, they have the resources and history to overpay for a “prestige author” like Harris.
Which means that if Kamala’s book is published by a News Corp-controlled publisher, it’s probably because the Murdochs blew them out of the water with a sweetheart deal.
And the Murdochs don’t just cut checks without anticipating anything in return.
Hmm.
