A Palestinian official claimed on Monday that Hamas had accepted a request from US special envoy Steve Witkoff for a ceasefire in Gaza, but that an Israeli official had later said that no Israeli government could take it. Additionally, Witkoff disputed the claim that Hamas had accepted his offer for a prisoner package and a ceasefire in Gaza, telling Reuters that his position was” completely undesirable” and that the discussion was not unique. The Israeli official, who is nearer to Hamas, informed Reuters that Hamas may accept the proposal through mediation, which would see the release of 10 captives and a 70-day ceasefire. The resource said the plan calls for the transfer of 10 living Jewish hostages held by Hamas in two organizations in exchange for a 70-day peace and a limited withdrawal from Gaza. Additionally, Israel released a number of Arab captives. Eventually, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he “hoped really much” that he would be able to “deliver news” about Israel’s fight against Hamas and the release of the hostages,” today and if not today, we will do so tomorrow.” ( This is a Reuters story )
