The contentious nationalist Calin Georgescu, whose unsuccessful bid for Romania’s president last year saw the European Union and NATO part nation’s elections annulled, announced he is leaving politics. In the first round of the national election, Georgescu, an independent, quickly rose to the position of the pioneer after defeating the former prime minister. In a film released online late on Monday, the 63-year-old said,” I choose to be a silent spectator of public and social living.” I make the decision to be a part of any political party construction… I have no social affiliations in any way with any of them. Despite denying any wrong, Nicusor Dan, a pro-EU member, was able to win the angry election rerun on Monday, which Georgescu was denied entry to. Dan, a mathematician and former president of Bucharest, defeated republican George Simion, who was Georgescu’s natural successor. After the conclusion of the presidential election, Georgescu claimed that he made the decision to move again, which for him indicated that” the sovereignist activity has come to a close.” I’m convinced that the values and ideals we fought for up will always be strong, even though this social section is over, he said. I’ve always said,” We would make history, not politics,” my dear ones. Georgescu’s victory in the tumultuous election routine next year shocked the political elite of Romania. Additionally, it left some spectators wondering how most neighborhood polls had placed him in the lead behind at least five other candidates. Georgescu had declared zero plan spending despite what appeared to be a sprawling social media campaign promoting him. Following allegations of political violations and Russian interference, a leading Romanian court next took the unprecedented step to annul the election. In February, prosecution began a criminal case against Georgescu, accusing him of incitement to defame the constitution, funding election campaign crimes, and founding or supporting, among other, totalitarian, racist, racist, or racist organizations. He was scheduled to appear in Bucharest’s attorney’s department on Tuesday. After a period of internal strife, Georgescu left Simion’s hard-right Alliance for the Unity of Romanians in 2022. He was accused by acquaintances of being pro-Russian and important of the Nato, the US-led military empire, to which Romania belongs. He sparked controversy by referring to Romanian totalitarian and nationalist leaders from the 1930s and 1940s as national champions. He has even praised Russian President Vladimir Putin in the past as a “man who loves his country” and raised questions about the independence of Ukraine, but he claims not to be pro-Russia. Georgescu gained support from images like US Vice President JD Vance and it billionaire Elon Musk, who both criticized Romania for allowing the election to be canceled next year. After being barred from the May repeat, Georgescu claimed the vote was” canceled fraudulently and unconstitutionally” and that the authorities had “invented evidence to justify the robbery” of the votes. In a show of support for Georgescu, who established himself as a tortured anti-system member, thousands of protesters took to the streets of Bucharest earlier this year in a wall against a crooked social group. Georgescu said on Monday,” I fully understand what many of you have experienced: you suffered, you were harassed, humiliated, wronged, and disadvantaged,” adding that he may run for office again “if a significant opportunity arises that could really benefit Romania and the Italian people.”
