Police are outraged over the state’s “naive or intentional” decision, which made it inevitable, that violent behavior reigned in Seattle over the weekend.
At least 23 arrests were reported by Seattle police on Saturday at the” Don’t Mess With Our Kids” march and the pro-LGBTQ counter-protest in Cal Anderson Park. The Seattle Times reports that “roughly 500 people showed up at the prayer protest” and that” as many as several people turned out in rally.”

The Gay counter-protesters were told by police to “back away from officers and stop throwing objects at soldiers,” but fighting broke out otherwise.  ,
The Seattle Police Officers Guild ( SPOG ) claimed on X Saturday night that they lack the resources to handle “anymore demonstrations that turn into widespread arrests.”
Additionally, they cautioned that” this area lacks the political will to permit authorities to use the necessary tools to stop criminal crowds in order to protect life and property.”
Seattle’s president Bruce Harrell stated in a speech that the town “is proud of our status as a loving, inclusive city for LGBTQ+ communities, and we stand with our trans neighbors when they face prejudice and injustice.”
In the spirit of Seattle’s most popular LGBTQ+ area, the far-right rally was held these for” this pretty reason,” according to the statement.” To provoke a reaction by promoting beliefs that are essentially opposed to our city’s values.”
Yes, that was a controversial setting for a MayDayUSA protest, and it was wholly the state’s problem.
The group requested an application to keep their celebration at Victor Steinbrueck Park, but the city refused, according to MayDayUSA’s Folake Kellogg, a priest from Wenatchee. Otherwise, Seattle Parks and Recreation mandated that MayDayUSA hold their march at Cal Anderson in” the spirit of ANTIFA area,” as SPOG put it.

What followed was just as obvious as the city’s clouds and rain.  ,
Before issuing the force, Mayor Harrell ordered Parks &, Rec to look into whether there were “legal site solutions or other changes that could have been pursued.” However, it seems to me that the offense was deliberate because MayDayUSA actually requested Victor Steinbrueck Park and earlier this month, held an entirely calm rally in New York City.
My only inquiry is whether Harrell was aware of the determination beforehand or perhaps even put his finger on it.
Cops have had enough, according to the Seattle Police Officers Guild ( SPOG).
” Why was this area chosen and authorized is what we are struggling to understand,” said SPOG. The business has” no question” that this town decision, as deliberate or naive as it may be, will place police officers in an untenable position. Whether or not it is our job, we were once more told to “put ourselves in a social minefield.”
Following Seattle’s handling of the BLM and Antifa unrest of 2020, which included the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone ( CHAZ), which was actually a secession movements, more than 200 police officials resigned or left the area. There are fewer than 900 officers on duty, compared to the 1,200 currently authorized power in Seattle PD.

SPOG ominously predicted that” 28 % of the city’s remaining 847 deployable police officers ( 284 ) are eligible to retire” and that SPD may experience a wave of officers leaving the force if Saturday’s violence “is a precursor of future events.”
The Seattle Police Department is hiring, SPOG said in its final statement.
Yes, but who would make the application mad?
