During a Memorial Day festival held on Monday at Arlington National Cemetery, US President Trump paid respect to fallen service members. Trump addressed the “great, great warriors” and touched on politics dimly in his address, saying that he is “fixing” the country after” a long and hard four years.” He attacked former US President Biden, calling him the “scum” who had spent the past four years attempting to devastate the country by using extreme leftism and leaving the borders open. Trump also referred to the imprisonment laws of federal judges as “monsters who want our nation to go to hell” at Arlington, where more than 400, 000 support people are buried. He paid tribute to Army Cpl Ryan McGhee, who passed away in Iraq at age 21 and Navy top key petty official Shannon Kent, who passed away in a 2019 murder bombing in Syria, and Air Force top master Sergeant Elroy Harworth who passed away in the Vietnam War. Trump remarked,” We just revere their incredible legacy. We commend them in their unending and everlasting glory. Vice President JD Vance also spoke, urging caution when sending troops to war and stating that Memorial Day shouldn’t be celebrated as a happy holiday. Trump later joked that missing his second term would result in him becoming president for the occasion of the US’s 250th anniversary, calling it a “big, big celebration.” He also mentioned the upcoming Olympics and World Cup. Trump tied a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as the final act. The president, who was joined by Vice President Pete Hegseth and Vice President Vance, paused after placing the wreath before taking a step back and saluting during the taps.
