Spain’s authorities on Wednesday denied a media statement that a “test” on the national energy grid resulted in a massive blackout that affected the Iberian Peninsula a month prior. Authorities have been searching for solutions since the interruption of April 28 that disrupted communication, halted travel, and drew cities across Spain and Portugal into darkness. According to a reputable British newspaper, The Telegraph reported on Friday, citing unidentified resources in Brussels, that Spanish authorities were “programning an trial before the program crashed, looking at how far they may push rely on renewables in readiness for Spain’s rushed phase-out of nuclear reactors from 2027.” The government appears to have pushed the pace too aggressively, before making the necessary purchases in a powerful 21st-century smart grid that can handle it, it continued. Natural transition minister Sara Aagesen responded to the document in parliament by saying,” It is false, absolutely false, that the authorities conducted any sort of study on the grid prior to the interruption. ” It is reckless to hold someone accountable while the root causes of the shutdown are still being investigated.” And it’s extremely foolish to assert that the authorities was conducting investigations, she continued. Beatriz Corredor, the mind of Spain’s energy company Rh, also referred to the report as” completely false” in an interview with the Spanish daily newspapers La Vanguardia, which was released on Wednesday. She disputed a number of widely discredited theories, saying,” There was no surplus of solar energy” on April 28. Nor did she witness any cyberattacks, little circuits, or overloads on the grid. Instead, she stated that it appears that” conventional” energy exporters like those of gas, nuclear, and hydro crops “failed to effectively regulate voltage” on the day of the failure. She did not specify whether this contributed directly to the shutdown.
