Pets in Florida you swallow a little less ominously. Governor Ron DeSantis signed two bills into law  on Wednesday to promote animal brutality. They spoke at Big Dog Ranch Rescue, the largest” cage-free no-kill” animal rescue in the country. While he signed the payments, he also had a dog with him.  ,

We’ve witnessed gruesome dog violence cases all over Florida, which call for stronger measures. I signed today to implement harsher penalties on those who harm puppies or other honest animals.

The dog that was chained to a blog during Hurricane Milton next month serves as the inspiration for the first act, Trooper’s Law. A state soldier from Florida came to his rescue. In case you can’t remember, how’s an image of the bad dog.  ,
I am happy to support Dexter’s Law and Trooper’s Law now. Florida is a man’s best friend. photograph. https ://twitter.com/lxHTXQ6Y0P— Ron DeSantis ( @GovRonDeSantis ) May 28, 2025
The purpose of Trooper’s Regulation is twofold. Second, it “makes it a felony to control and leave a puppy during a declared crisis or departure, which is punishable by up to five years in prison and a$ 10,000 good.” Next, it” codifies penalties for abandoning an pet, as infractions of the first degree, with similar charges, and for failing to give confined species with adequate food, water, and exercise.”  ,
A puppy named Dexter’s Laws was brutally murdered shortly after being adopted in Pinellas County. It” creates Florida’s primary animal abuser databases to prevent abuse and protect populations,” and “enhances sanctions for aggravated animal violence, including a 1.25 punishment modifier.”  ,  ,

I planned to look it up and survey on it for anyone else who might not be acquainted with Trooper’s story, but I had no idea what it was about. I almost wish I had. This really say Dexter was a wonderful, content dog at an animal shelter, and a few weeks later, he was discovered dead in Ft. DeSoto Park.  ,
Rep. Linda Chaney (R-69th District ) of Florida claims she introduced the bill partly because, according to the FBI, “individuals who commit these heinous deeds usually don’t stop at pets; they are better measures of upcoming violence, harassment, assault, rape, murder, and burning cases. In a different investigation, it was discovered that animal abusers are 5x more likely to hurt other people. In 88 % of the properties being investigated for child abuse, animal abuse was also present.
Fortunately, the ending of Trooper’s tale is happier. He was found tied to a post near Interstate 75, chest-deep in the swollen rainwater, just in case you don’t realize. He was saved by Florida State Patrol officer Orlando Morales, who then took him to the Leon County Humane Society, where he was given the name” Trooper” in honor of Morales ‘ bravery. DeSantis also made the puppy and the gentleman known at his State of the State speech in March.  ,
Trooper and Frank and Carla Spina, a few who have owned bulls dogs for more than 30 years, reside together in a secure house in Parkland, Florida. He also has a small dog named Dallas as his sister. After a pal of Carla’s sent her the news story about his recovery, the pair drove seven and a half hours to meet him. It was the ideal combination.  ,

If you’re serious, how’s more on Trooper’s history: Â
As Hurricane Milton barreled toward Florida, thousands of people submitted an adoption application for Trooper, a bull dog that had been found abandoned and chained to a blog.
