Israel agrees to US proposal for temporary ceasefire, Hamas considering: White House

The White House confirmed on Thursday that Israel has consented to a new US-backed request for a momentary peace with Hamas, which could be a significant step in the direction of putting an end to the bloody conflict in Gaza and preventing the release of more victims. Following latest attempts by US President Donald Trump’s specific minister, Steve Witkoff, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated to investigators that Israel has “backed and supported” the program. Before now, Wittkoff had a cautious optimism about mediating a breakthrough agreement that would end host conflicts and allow for the resumption of victims held. Hamas claimed in a statement that it had received the plan and was “reviewing it properly to serve the interests of our people, provide them with pleasure, and obtain a lasting peace in the Gaza Strip.” A total Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, increased humanitarian assistance, and the transfer of power from Hamas to a politically separate Israeli commission were included in the plan. More than 54, 000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel resumed its defense offensive in March, according to Gaza health authorities, primarily women and children. 1,200 Israelis were killed and 251 were taken prisoner as a result of the Hamas attack on October 7 that started the conflict. What does the new plan include? According to sources close to the negotiations, the ceasefire would allow the launch of 10 living hostages and many bodies in exchange for more than 1,100 Israeli prisoners, including those 100 serving lengthy sentences for the lethal attacks, despite the uncertainty of the proposal’s full details. Additionally, it calls for a 60-day stop to the battle. Importantly, the program includes a promise that Israel does not launch any military functions after the captives are freed. During the peace, lots of support cars would also be permitted into Gaza each day, a crucial backbone for a community that has been suffering from a months-long embargo that has brought many people to the brink of famine. What is Israel’s desire? Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, has long said the conflict won’t stop until all victims are freed and Hamas is possibly forced into exile or dismantled. He also stated that Israel would continue to hold onto its long-term hold over Gaza and support what he perceives as the deliberate migration of a sizable percentage of its population. But, Palestinians and the majority of the international community have strongly opposed plans to relocate Gaza’s population, with experts warning that such a shift would probably violate international law. What is Hamas’s goal? Hassan has stated that the release of the hostages is its only guarantee, just to demand that more Israeli prisoners be released, a permanent ceasefire, and a total Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. Additionally, the organization has indicated that it will give command to a politically separate Israeli committee that would oversee reconstruction efforts. Just a third of the 58 victims that are believed to be alive are held by Hamas are still being held. Nonetheless, their lives are still in danger as the conflict continues.
