In response to a unified contact from the Taliban government on Friday, thousands of Afghans protested in various parts of the country. In a show of solidarity with Palestinians, huge crowds gathered in various cities after Friday prayer, waving Arab flags and burning pictures of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. We are standing in solidarity with Gaza. And we are standing with them to show the world that Gaza is not the only place. Wherever Islam are subject to oppression, we firmly defend them and denounce it, Jannat, 28, said at a rally in Kabul. The demonstrations come as a result of the almost 20-month-long conflict in Gaza. In March, after peace negotiations failed to lead to improvement, Israel resumed military operations, ending a six-week peace. The area continues to be in desperate need of aid despite Israel’s recent removal of the total embargo that it placed on Gaza on March 2. The UN issued a warning that” 100 percentage” of Gazans are in danger of famine because of the severe food and medical shortages caused by the siege.
Hassan Akhund, the leader of the Taliban, denounced Israel’s actions in Gaza on Friday, calling them a “genocide,” and raising grave concerns about the deteriorating condition affecting Israeli civilians. He stated in a statement that” the situation is continuing to deteriorate regularly, in flagrant violation of basic humanitarian principles.” The Taliban government has consistently backed the Palestinian cause and generally denounced Jewish actions in the occupied territories. It is still unrecognised by the worldwide community.
