Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY ) claimed to have witnessed Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers detaining people who were presenting to immigration court in his Manhattan office building. He claimed that the agents were” Gestapo like behavior” for detaining the migrants there.
In earlier deemed” sensitive” places like schools and churches, ICE has been able to make arrests under the Trump presidency.
In a statement shared with the Washington Examiner, he said,” This is Gestapo like behavior where plain-clothed officers, wearing masks, are terrorizing immigrants who are doing the right thing by going to court, following up on their immigration proceedings, and trying to enter this country legally, which is through asylum.”
Goldman physically confronted the agents, posing as a plainclothes officer as she posed questions to them. He claimed to have inquired about the agencies ‘ reasons for their faces. One person claimed they were wearing a helmet because “it’s cool,” while another claimed they were doing so to avoid being seen on video.
He questioned them,” Why do you need to cover your face if what you are doing is legit, legal, and completely aboveboard”?

In a post on X, Goldman claimed that the department of homeland security had “absolutely sickened” the congressman’s comparison of “heroic” ICE officials to Nazis.
