According to an inner cable that Reuters reviewed on Friday, the US state department directed all of its judicial offices to conduct additional checks on visa applicants who wanted to visit Harvard University for any reason. The May 30 wire calls for “additional screening” of all Harvard-related non-immigrant visa applicants. Secretary of state Marco Rubio signed it. This includes individuals, faculty, staff, companies, speakers of a visitor program, and also visitors. The wire uses striking and underlined text to emphasize the word “any.” The increased vetting process aims to help soldiers determine applicants with biographies of anti-Semitic harassment and violence, according to the training, which claims Harvard failed to maintain” a school environment free from violence and anti-Semitism.” The express office made no comments on internal connections. The Trump administration’s wider campaign against Harvard includes this course of action. The administration has launched a probe into alleged prejudice against light, Asian, female, or direct people, frozen billions in cash, and pressured the university to close its tax-exempt position. Trump has criticised leading institutions for fostering anti-American beliefs. A federal prosecutor thwarted Harvard’s ability to accept international students last year, which his administration had previously blocked. Harvard has accused the management of retaliation for resuscitated attempts to interfere with its inside control, academic content, and school ideology. Consular officers are also instructed to check candidates ‘ social media accounts for card approval. The confidentiality of an individual’s accounts may be seen as an indication of “evasiveness.” The officers are instructed to ask applicants to create their accounts open and to warn that hiding activity may be viewed as cautious. Additionally, it’s important to make sure the applicant’s planned actions in the US match the type of card they are applying for. The card may be denied if the official is not “personally and entirely satisfied” that the applicant may adhere to visa requirements. The purchase follows Rubio’s past actions, including halting novel visa applications for student and exchange programs and instituting the withdrawal of permits for Chinese students studying sensitive subjects or those affiliated with the Communist Party. This energy will also serve as a “pilot for expanded testing and vetting,” according to the cable, which suggests that identical vetting measures could be used for other universities in the future.
