The music composer says that anyone who “approved this mocking” may be asked to step down.
For his final music degree, a graduate student at the University of Nebraska just created a pull performance that adapted the Catholic Mass.
The performance recreated the Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei from several passages of the Mass. Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Lincoln, Nebraska, hosted it.
This “mockery” of their faith, according to two Catholic and liberal supporters, exposes a double standard for categorizing Christianity and highlights a pronounced absence of intellectual rigor in college programs.
In a YouTube video, doctoral student Joseph Willette described the performance as” truly feels like the culmination of]his ] recent studies studying music composition as well as gender, sexuality, and queer communities.”
The contrast of the divine and the vulgar, the divine and the sinful is at the heart of this job, he said.
The” sacred” is represented by the traditional Mass, while the” sinful” is depicted in” the queer imagery and art forms,” according to Willette.
A move designer can be seen performing near the front of the temple while guitarists play on stage in a film that was posted to YouTube of the functionality.
The movie information states that” Mass of Perpetual Indulgence for room orchestra, electronics, singer piano, and carry performer was written to bridge the gap between queerness and spirituality, to sanctify queer people and enjoy our lives and communities.”
This arrangement of the classic Mass blurs the lines between the spiritual and the profane, it claims. It amalgamates musical styles that range from dance to opera to art to EDM.

Following the performance, Willette received a degree in content from the Glenn Korff School of Music, according to the college website.
However, conservative opponents criticized the efficiency, arguing that the school does not accept it as a racist mockery of the Catholic faith.
The University of Nebraska academics, who endorsed or applauded this mockery, may be asked to resign, according to Peter Kwasniewski, a composer of music and former Catholic school professor, who wrote an email to The Fix.
What we’re seeing at function is a double standard, which is rooted in the anti-Catholic prejudice that has permeated the country’s past, he said.
A common mockery of anyone’s church, let’s state, Islam, Judaism, or Buddhism, would have been vetoed by the university, and if not, would have led to immediate uproar and requirements for apologies and reprisals, he said.
He added that revisionist liberals in politics and education are responsible for” the rise of anti-Catholic views on campuses” as a result.
These “progressives” continue to perpetuate falsified myths or “black legends” to maintain social dominance, but they frequently use whatever influence they gain, he said.
In a similar vein, Minding the Campus director Jared Gould told The Fix that” the child’s choice to insult a Catholic Mass through a move performance, more than, say, reciting a surah of Muhammad in move, raises questions about careful targeting.
Why is Christianity, and specifically the one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church, so frequently targeted for such controversies? This disparity suggests that there isn’t the same level of scrutiny for all religions, undermining the intellectual integrity that universities should promote, he said.
Further, Gould claimed that the early guilds and Christian churches created intellectual communities that were rooted in both faith and reason, making up the Western university system.
He added that tax dollars shouldn’t be used to fund “public institutions that reward such” clichés and intellectually shallow acts” that” don’t contribute much to the arts or free speech.”
He claimed that universities “debase their own legacy” by awarding students with the highest degrees for such illogical displays.
In order to demonstrate their obvious lack of academic rigor, Gould recommended that these courses be thoroughly reviewed.
Universities that support such nonsense have abandoned their goals, favoring cultural vandalism over wisdom, and failing to uphold the standards of the civilization they claim to serve, he said.
The University of Nebraska’s media relations office, the Glenn Korff School of Music, and Willette were contacted by The Fix multiple times over email regarding the performance. No one responded.
