'Violation': Indian-origin Megha Vemuri, family banned from MIT event after Palestine speech

Megha Vemuri, an Indian-American scholar, was denied entry to the commencement ceremony on Friday because the group leader had used her platform to represent Palestine the day before. MIT Chancellor Melissa Nobles sent her an internet on Friday night saying she could not attend the ceremony and that she and her family were prohibited from college for the majority of the time, according to the Boston Globe. Nobles wrote in the internet that participating in commencement actions is a pleasure. You purposefully and frequently misled Commencement administrators. While we respect your right to free speech, Vemuri responded to the email and claimed that her talk constituted” a protest from the period” and that the campus ban was” an overreach” because you chose to lead a protest from the stage and disrupt an important institute ceremony. Vemuri was barred from school by an MIT director who claimed in a statement that the academy” stands by its decision” and that the speech she gave was not the one that the speaker had planned.

Vemuri’s restrictions causes a furious opposition.

Due to the chants from individuals who protested the ban on Vemuri, Melissa Nobles was forced to halt her statement on Friday. Nobility apologised over the noise of the opposition on Friday, saying,” Excuse me, I respect that you have a text to take, but this is not the time or place. Today’s topic is “our graduates and their individuals.” In her statement, Vemuri criticized MIT for its relations to Israel and demanded that I value them and allow me to continue. You have previously overcome the fear, and you have used it as justification.” Vemuri yelled out loudly to show the world that MIT wants a complimentary Palestine.
