Joe Biden delivered a speech on Friday at Veterans Memorial Park’s yearly Memorial Day celebration in New Castle, Delaware. — his first official statement since learning about his cancer treatment.

And it turned out as you would have anticipated. And you were correct if you had anticipated that he would address his household and self.  ,
What ought to have been a solemn gift to the men and women who gave their lives for this nation turned into yet another Trump family narrative. Biden managed to orient the light toward — wonder — Beau and Hunter rather than focusing on the fallen soldiers we’re supposed to recognize.
Evidently, he made some inevitable remarks about Memorial Day before moving on to a more in-depth discussion of his own pain.
” I know for many of you that Memorial Day, like it is for us, is very personal,” he said. This evening marks the tenth anniversary of my child Beau’s passing, according to the Bidens, who spent a year in Iraq.
And therefore he continued telling his own account for a while:
And to be honest, today is difficult. Hunter, Hunter, Hunter, Hunter, Hunter, Hunter, I don’t understand where you’re sitting, Hunter, but his father and I both traveled to this occurrence with me all the way to the back. At the same time as we were when he began.
He had just left high school and was about to start school. And you know, being there with everyone makes things a much easier, to be honest. It actually works.
So I’m grateful that you allowed me to mourn with you.
Some of you are familiar with my brother Beau, and some of you are. He spent a month in Iraq before joining the Delaware National Guard.
Do you recall when I got a call from Washington asking,” Dad, was you, what are you doing Friday?” What do you need, fruit, I asked? He said,” I want you to wire my bars on.” I said,” Pin your plates on,” so I guess. You have two children, but you are not…” Dad, somebody has to do this, Dad.”
The greatest moment of his existence was putting on that uniform. That is not intended as a prank. That’s no overstatement. That is true. And you know, it was one of the items I ever accomplished because I pinned his plates on him. The Delaware National Guard’s offices’ new name, Beau, means a lot to our family, and Beau is a big deal.
His reputation continues to be present. You’ll remember him in the same way that you did your children, children, and great-grandchildren. They will be able to identify him.

Yes, on a time dedicated to those who lost in conflict, Biden dragged Beau’s title back, despite the fact that Beau passed away from brain tumor in Maryland, not on the battle.
Previous President Biden:” I am aware that Memorial Day is very specific for many of you, just like it is for us. This is the tenth anniversary of my brother Beau’s year-long deployment to Iraq, for the Overarching. It’s a difficult day, to be honest. photograph. twitter.com/AHzDiDjBoQ— CSPAN ( @cspan ) May 30, 2025
In the end, Biden delivered yet another tone-deaf, meandering speech that turns regional remembrance into private promoting of his own anguish.  ,
Although Joe has claimed this in the past, Joe has claimed Beau has certainly perished in Iraq during this occasion. However, this is not the first moment Joe Biden has mentioned Beau during his Memorial Day notes. Memorial Day is intended to recognize and remember those who were killed in battle or as a result of their injuries.  ,
Biden said last year at Arlington National Cemetery,” This year marks nine years since I lost my boy, Beau.”  ,
Fortunately, his staffer made a level of highlighting the fact that Beau did not perish in battle, which was a result of Biden’s repeated criticism of invoking Beau and suggesting or suggesting that he had died in Iraq.  ,
Imagine the confidence, the bravery, and the true sacrifice they all made, he said again in 2022,” Only think, I mean this honestly, I say this as a father of a person who won the Broad Star of Conspicuous Service Medal and lost his life in Iraq.”

Uh-oh, please. A New Issue Haske Tapper.
Beau’s military assistance was commendable, but Joe’s regular recitation of his father’s death, especially for Memorial Day festivities, is anything but. He should not have made a grave comparison to Beau’s passing, horrible though it was, with the sacrifice of those who died in battle. Some were appalled when Biden met with the people of the 13 American service members who passed away during his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, not just because of his repeated gaze at his watch but because he insisted that the time be centered around Beau. And he continues to do that. He also brought Beau Beau up during a visit to the page of the Key Bridge collapse last year.
