Indian-origin man pleads guilty to marriage fraud in West Virginia; he claimed domestic violence to get green card
Akaash Prakash Makwana, an American male, admits to having engaged in union fraud in West Virginia, US.

Ashish Prakash Makwana, an Indian national, 29, has admitted guilt to a union fraud that even involved identity theft as part of a plan to evade US immigration rules. According to the US Justice Department, Makwana worked in lodge, hospitality, and cooking services while holding a J-1 nonimmigrant visa. He conspired with others to married a US citizen in order to stay in the country because this card is only valid for a year. Makwana arrived in the US in 2019 and stayed there even though his immigration expired in 2020. He wed a US citizen for$ 10,000 in order to apply for a Green Card in 2021. However, he also added the US individual’s name to his bank accounts and power bills by falsifying a home lease agreement to make it seem as though he and the US citizen he married lived up. When Makwana included the manager’s name and name on a fake contract, Makwana admitted to identity theft. Makwala claimed that his US resident partner abused him and domesticated him when this marriage plan failed. Makwala claimed this was the result of his filing a Form I-360 with the USCIS. He has then admitted that he filed the complaint so that he could be in the US while his claims were being taken into account. Additionally, the 28-year-old US resident Kalee Ann Huff admitted to this wedding scams. Joseph Sanchez, Huff’s brother-in-law, admitted guilt and was a part of the plot. Speaking United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, in response to this situation,” This circumstance reflects another undesirable attempt to undermine our government’s immigration laws, and the determination of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to enforce those rules uphold public safety, regional security, and the rule of law in our country,” said the case.
