Tuesday, a powerful earthquake measuring 6.2 % on the Richter scale affected Greece’s Dodecanese Islands region. According to the Western Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the geological event took place close to the Turkish border. The EMSC confirmed that there was seismic activity at 68 km ( 42 miles ) of depth. The seaside town of Marmaris in northern Turkey was struck by a 5.8-magnitude disaster early on Tuesday, according to the disaster management agency of Turkey. Seven people were hurt as they attempted to flee their homes, some of whom jumped from windows or terraces, according to Marmaris Governor Idris Akbiyik. No major structural damage was reported right away. At 2.17 am, the earthquake, which was centered in the Mediterranean Sea, felt in local Rhodes, where many people had been awakened. Turkey is prone to frequent disasters because it is situated on significant wrong lines. More than 53, 000 people were killed in Turkey by a 7.8-magnitude earthquake in 2023, and 11 counties were completely destroyed. In northeastern Syria, another 6, 000 people died.
